Converting water heater to Electric

Post by Aviongirl1995 »

Has anyone found an element that will convert the water heater to run off electric and fit avions? We have tried several elements but they are too large and don’t fit

My Atwood water heater has a 110v element to supplement. I wouldn’t exclusively go electric though since it would take awhile to reheat solely on electric. The water uses a very small amount of propane and reheats quickly, so personally I’d stick with LP.

What’s your water heater? Suburban or Atwood?

So what ended up doing the trick was the Diamond Group DGR6VP HR6 Hott Rod Conversion Kit on Amazon. Before that we tried the Atwood 92249 electric water heater converter on Amazon and it didn’t fit, too big if I remember right. But the Hott Rod did the trick. It does take a long time to reheat as you said. I forgot to switch it on one night and waited an hour and still bone chilling cold. I had to wait until the next morning to take a hot shower
