30lb Propane Cylinders Recertified
Re: 30lb Propane Cylinders Recertified
When I bought my Avion in Dec the PO had new steel tanks. I asked if he had the aluminum ones. Yes, but it was cheaper to buy new steel then have the original ones recertified. My local bulk supplier said they needed updated valves @ $25.00 ea plus 5.00 to certify. Seems legit to me.
They work.
The original valves had a different thread pattern then the new steel ones. The new ones match those on the steel tanks.

Wise old owl!
Re: 30lb Propane Cylinders Recertified
I am debating what to do about mine, they have not been recertified since 1988, I am not worried about them failing but worried about being somewhere and not being able to get them filled, obviously they will need the new valves and I'm told that when they put the new valves in I will lose my remote level gauges? The alternative is to get brand new tanks from vintage trailer supply that will have the new valves and also, I was surprised to find out, are all wired up for our remote gauges.
