Light Bulbs
Light Bulbs
1975 28' LaGrande I have one working living room ceiling light bulb but the other one is burnt out. There are no markings on either bulb.
They are screw in bulbs that seem to be the old incandescent 110 volt variety. I tried to replace them with screw in CFL and LED house bulbs but they didn't work. I took my DVOM and was surprised to find out that it was 12v going to that socket.
Anyone know what bulb this living room ceiling light takes for bulbs?
The 1976 owners manual really confuses me as to what I have. I only have a toggle switch for that light...
Quote:
"LaGrande models are provided with a dimmer switch for
the living room ceiling light. Push in on the switch knob
to tum the light on or off. Turn the knob to adjust brightness
when the trailer is connected to 115 volt service.
The dimmer does not work when the trailer is operating
from the self-contained batteries."

Re: Light Bulbs
I pulled out the switch and there are only 2 wires on the toggle switch and it is a 12v circuit. I suppose a 12v screw in 40watt equivalent 12v LED bulb is my best option.

Re: Light Bulbs
Sounds like you have it figured out. That is interesting that the dimmer function on the switch only works when connected to shore power.

Re: Light Bulbs
Not really. I did however order two 12v Edison LED bulbs. I don't have a dimmer as there is only 2 wires on the toggle switch. I suspect the dimmer somehow failed and a toggle switch replaced it or it never had that feature in the first place.

Re: Light Bulbs
Hopefully those Edison bulbs will do the trick. If not, are you set on keeping that light fixture? If so, you could always rewire with a bayonet socket—https://www.amazon.com/Bayonet-Socket-1 ... B0139WX0BQ

I like the look of the heavy glass globe on this light. So the only way I would replace it is if I broke that globe.

Re: Light Bulbs
Yes the Edison 12-24v bulbs worked fine thanks for the help!Kep wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 10:34 amThanks good option.KYAvion wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 10:07 am Hopefully those Edison bulbs will do the trick.
