Does anyone know the furnace sizes and BTU requirements

Post by Williamintampa »

I am restoring a 1960 Silver Avion. The unit is 25 feet long including the tongue and back bumper. The furnace
Is missing. So I don't know the correct size in btu's and physical size to fit in the space built into the trailer.
Does anyone have the information? Thank you.

William-

Thanks for posting this here. I believe the general rule is roughly 1,000 BTU per foot of trailer. Thus, in my 30R (which is probably more like 26-27 feet inside) I installed the Suburban NT-30SP.

The concern with going too big is that a larger furnace will have a tendency to short cycle. If needed, I suppose one could negate this effect by installing an additional duct or two into the underbelly.

Suburban does make a 25K furnace as well...

Is there an existing cabinet you are wanting to install the unit in? My 30R came with a Duotherm unit, which is no longer made. I had to modify a few things to get the Suburban to fit.
