Fan motor burned out...

Post by RISK »

Howdy,

Just curious if anyone have an idea about this motor and what a suitable replacement would be... talked to Chuck about this awhile back and he said to find a replacement motor 😒... I’m going to take it to a small electric motor repair shop tomorrow but figured I’d ask y’all and if nothing else we’ll have another thread of info.

What's its use?

Apologies,

It’s from one of the ceiling vent fans.
Original to my trailer 78/79.

The only name or marking I could find was TORIN and that is stamped on the metal fan blade.

I’ll eventually upgrade to fantastic or something else but unless I can just plug and play (everything else, including the rear fan, is fine) I’ll just try to replace this motor.

The 2 posts are pretty key as they are what attach to the arms that hold the whole shebang in place...

I saved this link some time ago when someone found a good replacement motor.... albeit a single-speed motor.

I have not nailed down a solution yet, but this is a link to Red Dot Corp..... I bet they have a 2-speed motor, if someone could compare specs with the catalog.

It sure does..... I hope it works. Mine work good or I'd order one. I sure don't mind letting you order one and report back! :D

Seriously, though...... this is one of those topics where it would be most excellent to identify a particular replacement that will be a perfect replacement.

I just measured the old one and compared it to the specs of the one in the link you sent...
Diameter is right: 3”
Shaft diameter is right: 1/4”
Motor length is close: old is 2 1/4”
Shaft length is longer on the new one by a 1/16” or so...

In all it looks very promising and I don’t mind being the test subject.

Results soon.
