My e2 hitch

I’m finally taking possession of my 1986 34w silver edition this Wednesday. The hitch that comes with it is an an Eas-Lift rated for 1000/10,000 with sway controls. It was towed by a 1984 Suburban. Since I’m towing with F350 4wd I need a drop hitch bar to even consider using this hitch. I opted to get an e2 rated at 1000/10,000 round bar to replace the old hitch instead. While watching an installation video this evening it was noted that the link plates were designed to adjust to different a-frame depths. I had measured the a-frame dimensions and had written down 2” thick by 9” tall. Is that right or did I get mixed up writing 9”? If I didn’t I don’t see how this e2 will work. Can anyone straighten me out. Thanks, JT

Those dimensions should be 2x6..... I hope that helps your planning...

Here is a 1986 brochure.... you'll see the frame dimensions on page 7.

(If you happen to find any special literature for the Silver Editions with your new Avion, please pass them on.)

Thanks Razorback,
I think I had a moment of dyslexia or something. After I get it parked in my possession I’ll be able to really look it over, take pictures and see what I have as far as paperwork goes. Thanks again for the info. JT

That’s funny.... my first inclination when I was responding was to make a comment about “upside-down dyslexia”, but I tried to be mindful of dyslexics! :D

Remembering numbers and “rithmatic” have always been my weak point. Now that I’m about to hit 62, I have the aforementioned upside down and sideways. Just ask my wife. Thank God she’s a walking calculator.

Finally pulled my my trailer out for a shake down. The 30 or do miles I’ve towed so far I towed on the ball. I purchased a round bar E-2 rated at 1000/10,000. Brackets are supposed to be 24” min. /27” max. My LP bottles have me positioning brackets at 29.25” or 2.25” over max. recommendation. Of course everything happens on Sunday when nothing is open. Have you dealt with this predicament, or do I have the oddball?

I have a different hitch (Propride 3P), but I had to move the propane tray to install it correctly.
