Refrigerator Replacement retaining vintage original wood door panel advice

Post by susan.henke »

My ‘71 Avion’s fridge is a goner. I hate replacing but impossible to find replacement parts to rebuild. (Article nr: product number: 92627011 serial number: 1361224 model number: R N. (or M.?) 75 a)

I realize best option is a new one, but would like to retain the vintage doors/facade.

Any tips on what new fridges and accessories would help me accomplish this? Thank you!

You should be able to remove the wood panels from your existing door and use them on a direct placement fridge. For instance, I have a Dometic RM100 3-way fridge, if I were to replace it, I would replace it with an RM2820 and swap out the front panels.

The older fridges are pretty robust, unless its the cooling unit that is gone, I'd look at fixing it.

I just looked up your fridge and the replacement is an RM2652 (the same as mine, the 2820 is now the 2652)

Hope that helps.
