Re: Irma shelter
After the fact, thank you. I tried to leave. Went the back roads up the west coast to avoid I75, which was a very fast parking lot or very slow highway (your choice of description). Between towns on US27, we were going 60 and 65. When we came to a town with a traffic light (like Perry), traffic woul...

Re: Leveling
The owners manual recommends a shovel for leveling. park it, check level. Pull it forward, dig a trench for the tires and back it up, check again. When leaving the site, rake the dirt back in the hole (or leave it so the next guy is level). Your foot works well for this. It takes very little time and...

Replacing a powered vent.
This was easier than I thought it would be. My original vent stopped cranking on one side. The worm gear was stripped out. It would siphon open going down the road. Did a little homework and decided to replace it with the basic Maxxair roof vent. I was concerned about the size of the roof opening as...

Re: Antenna mod - any ideas?
There is a black cover over the gears. Two phillips screws hold it on. Remove the screws, lift the cover and the gears are completely exposed. All this is done from the roof. The gears are plastic. You can easily see if there are broken or worn teeth on the gear. I had some wear on mine. Grease it w...

Re: Antenna mod - any ideas?
There is a black plastic cover over the gears. Two phillips screws and it comes off. The gears are then exposed. The hard part is climbing on the roof.

Re: Antenna mod - any ideas?
Tried a clearchannel antenna in my daughters home. Impressed with performance. Mine just stopped cranking also. Will remove and repair cranking mechanism. Have removed original antenna. It originally worked poorly, turned out to be sun degradation of the cable to the antenna. Cut it off at roof and ...

Re: Tow vehicles
Nissan Armada 5.6 Auto tow package. Self leveling air bags in the rear are standard. But they do not like the tongue weight of my 1989 30R.

Re: Anti sway hitch??
I tow at 80% of the rated capacity. My Nissan armada is rated to tow max 9000 lbs. My 30 R has 7000 on the axles and about 600 on the tongue. My gross is 8500 I think. By towing at 80% or less, I am a lot easier on the Armada. If the trailer brakes do not work, tow slow, brake early, leave a big gap...

Re: Solar panels
From my reading on installing solar panels, the manufacturers of the panels recommend hooking up to the back of the refrigerator because it is a direct connection to the battery. The connection made may reverse feed through the fuse box or not. I only report what I have read. Solar panels are in my ...
