Re: 1987 34W - Bearing and Grease Seal project

Looks like that will be my starting point as well since pretty much everything will be new. Except the axle shaft. But they look to be in decent shape just surface rust. After they’re sandblasted and recoated they will look new anyway. I’ve found that my trailer is almost like my boat. There’s nothi...

Re: 1987 34W - Bearing and Grease Seal project

I haven’t seen those particular instructions but was told to pay attention of the number of shims and which side they were on. Of course the shims on the only axle that I’ve removed so far was so rusted you couldn’t tell where one started or the next ended. So when I beat the axle out they all fell ...

Re: 1987 34W - Bearing and Grease Seal project

Here is something to add to the archives. It's the pivot bushing for the inner end of each axle. It is pressed into the pin bore through which the pivot bolt is inserted. Note the part was originally used on 1965-79 Ford pick-up trucks. The bushings are no longer in production. However, I purchased...

Re: Rubber socket door holder DH38S

You’re welcome. Thanks for having the info to begin with. Update: this holder works extremely well. I guess my old one wasn’t working as well as I thought because I was able to close the door from inside the trailer just by pulling on the handle. I can’t do that anymore I have to be outside to pull ...

Re: Rubber socket door holder DH38S

Some time ago, I made note of Dorman 42051 PCV grommet as a good replacement for the rubber in the door hold-open. https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-HELP-42051-Valve-Grommet/dp/B000CO78EK I will second that this grommet works. I just received one and installed it and it works like a champ. You do need ...

Re: Rubber socket door holder DH38S

I thought I’d show some of the stupid crap I see with online stores living in Alaska. I was looking around the internet for this rubber door holder and I came across a site that had it fairly cheap ($1.69) so I added it to my cart and input my zip code for the shipping information. This is what they...

Re: Recommended tires: Radial or Bias Ply

Are the axles on the 34’s rated higher than 3500lbs? Mine aren’t, I am doing the bearings/brakes/hubs and I have 10” hubs and brakes and a #84 spindle which is rated for 3500 lbs total or 1750 per side. I have the 81 34 V and apparently this model year had all kinds of things a bit different than o...

Re: Looking for an Avion/Cayo C11

What a coincidence. I was just looking on the Facebook Avion for sale site and there’s a 1968 Avion C11 on there for sale. https://www.facebook.com/groups/606338762755320 It’s just a few ads down on the first page. It will definitely need some restoration work. But the outside looks fairly solid, as...

Re: Window glazing

I have an update to the window glazing issue. I’ve located a different source that says it has 400’ rolls for sale and also sells by the foot. It is https://www.all-rite.com/hehr-glazing-bead-seal.html, it sells for $2.20 per foot. I’m not sure how much they have but it appears they may have a bit s...

Re: Space heater and tank heat pad electric usage

I know this is an old question but I can tell you that where I’m at I run a 1500 watt electric full time in the winter and when it gets below 20 degrees I can use 40lbs of propane in about three or four days running the main heater. BUT and this is a big but, the PO had just bought and installed a 4...
