'66 Avion Sportsman stack (roof vent?)

Post by 66Avion18 »

My Avion has four stack/roof vents on the roof. Stove, furnace and bathroom vent. All three have caps. There's also an 'uncapped' stackvent at the rear of the unit, next to the bathroom vent. I have two questions - should this have a cap on it and is this a vent for the toilet and sewage tank? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Kevin. Sorry, I don't have an answer, yet..... But will look..... Maybe we have a brochure from that year that might show it....

If you haven't seen yet, there is a documentation section on this forum...... Lots of good stuff there. Second page (as I am viewing it) has the 1960's brochures available for download...... But no 1966..... Only 1965 and 1967.

I don't have a 1966 brochure, but I glanced at a 1967...... I think there should be a cap on that vent pipe.

The back cover of the 1965 brochure shows a nice picture...... Clear view of a covered vent pipe.

Thanks. Could you post the image of the brochure or a link where it can be found? I have the original owners manual but it doesn't show the back of the unit. Thanks again for your help.

If you can ever get that manual scanned as a pdf file, we could add it to our Documentation section.

Thanks for the info. We're away from home for about another week or so but will scan our manual and add it to the collection.

As an update to my first posting, while rummaging through one of the many storage areas I found the cap. It looks as though the rivets snapped. Easy fix with either another pair of rivets or self tapping metal screws. While rummaging I also found the leveling jacks and a new black tank discharge hose. The previous owner was obviously well prepared and looked after the trailer.

Glad you found that vent cap, and other stuff. Makes you feel like a kid at Christmas!

I replaced the vent caps on our 1987 Avion.... here's a link to that post if you'd like to see it....
