Fiberglass shower modification

Post by Jtholland757@att.net »

Our 1986 34w rear bdrm. Has the front facing shower and curved shower curtain track along the ceiling and part way down the roadside wall. I would like to cut a piece of plexiglass to fit against that wall and up around the ceiling, so I could then have a shower curtain to cover the opening to exit the shower. Has anyone done this, and if so how did you make your template to match the curved wall and ceiling? The shower is a one piece fiberglass unit with seat and small tub. Right now we have an adjustable shower curtain jury rigged and a trimmed up curtain that kinda

works, but is aggravating as hell trying to keep both sides closed so water doesn’t wet everything down. I suck at math just ask my wife) but if you explain it like your talking to a 3 year old, I can probably understand. I’ll take any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance. JTHOLLAND

Would you be open to utilizing the existing track, a new shower curtain, and some plastic tabs to sew on to the new curtain?

I struggled with our 34W shower until I can up with this solution. We think it works great, and have enjoyed it for 6-7 years.

Right now we’re using a modified shower curtain, but since we full time and my wife uses our bathroom exclusively l thought cutting a piece of plexiglas to the contour of the shower stall ceiling to seat and about as deep as the vanity. Then you could trim your standard shower curtain to fit the exit area. The shower stall as you already know is curved all the way to the bathroom door and egg shaped on the outside wall. I’ll probably have to get some thin material and trim and fit to make a template. Still analyzing how to do it without ending up with a pile of scrap material and nothing to show.

I'm interested in doing the same thing to my Avion Holiday '67 with 8mm plexiglass/lucite. Half& Half curtain/plexi.
Any luck with this JTholland? detail would be greatly appreciated.
