Roof fan removal
Roof fan removal
Just removed some original fans. They were riveted and had a couple layers of 'stuff' over them.
I found that an oscillating tool with a 180 degree plunge cutter with the appropriate teeth to cut metal made short work of it. Just slide the cutter between the body and the fan and cut away. Lots better than trying to drill the rivets out, I think the rivets still had the hard steel mandrel in some of them. That oscillating tool is like bread and butter.
Going to install some Maxx air fans.

Hello and thank you for the tip. It's good to know.

I should also mention, you have to move the tool around to clear the teeth, why the 180 degree cutter.
I installed the Maxxair fan bases today. For the DC power I ran wire from the closest ovehead light to the opening. I really like how this thing is built. The DC wire they use for the lights could power a fridgerator!
