Repairing window gasket seals.

Post by Scott Aycock »

I have a 1978 Avion 33 foot trailer or 10.3 meters. Anyway, I’m pretty sure it’s leaking around the front window and I know that the back window has a bad seal. I am in Tulsa Oklahoma and I don’t really know where to get the replacement rubber that goes around the windows when I called a couple of RV places, they didn’t even seem to know what I was talking about. They kept saying you need to putty the windows. I am pretty handy, but I am new at restoring a trailer. Can anyone help me out with where to get the right materials?

Not sure what type of gasket you have but I'm reviving the rubber gaskets on our boat windows right now. Toluene (nasty stuff) softens and replenishes rubber gaskets. Just a thought. Make sure to wear protective gear (organic vapour mask, gloves etc.) and work in an open area.
