Agreed-Value RV Insurance

My insurance company (State Farm) would not provide me with an agreed-value coverage for our Avion (even though I was willing to have our Avion appraised), so, I started shopping around for RV insurance.

I called All State and Geico. Neither provided coverage (Geico said they would provide coverage for new RVs only). I found an insurance broker via Google search and they said they can get me RV insurance but I have to have my trailer appraised (they would accept an existing appraisal of up to 2 years old or a bill of sale). I called the nearest RV shop a couple of times (they sell SOB trailers) about getting an appraisal, but they never called back! So, Google search came to the rescue again. I found this site that specializes in appraising vintage cars and they said they would appraise vintage RVs as well.

I had them appraise our Avion. Sent them many interior/exterior photos, a description of the trailer and long list of upgrades I had made and they appraised it for $19,800. I sent the appraisal to the insurance broker and they quoted me for $274 a year with $1000 deductible (I added my wife to the policy as well. Individually, the premium was slightly lower). I purchased the coverage. Its good for 10 years, after which I need to appraise our Avion again. I now sleeps a little bit better :D knowing that if, god forbid, something happens to our Avion, its not a total loss and at least I can start over with another Avion and another renovation :D

I wanted to share the info of the insurance broker and appraisal shop in case others are interested in agreed-value policies.

You might want consider adding Auto Owners Insurance Co. to your list. We insured our trailer with them last $13,000 without any appraisal. $250 deductible. $56 per year on our bundled policy. They serve in 26 states.

Silverloaf- is that an “Agreed Value” policy?

One thing I forgot in my initial post: Our RV insurance is via Progressive.

SilverLoaf's coverage, if indeed agreed-value, is exceptional. I only got RV insurance from Progressive (not home or auto). Bundling home/auto would be a great idea and provide discounts, but was not possible for us.

I've got full coverage from Progressive but only up to the purchase value of last Dec. Through a local insurance broker. Will soon attempt to up the coverage before heading to Fla. Current premium is $165.00/annum
